The demand for gas connections within United Kingdom is increasing at a rapid rate, especially within the South West of England which is lagging behind the rest of the UK in this area. In order to cater to this increasing demand, the utility companies are working hard in order to improve the gas connection and provide a better service for the people in need.
Usually gas connection works take around 6 weeks to implement and complete and the utility companies in the South West of England will have a plan of action for each area. Some will link up with specialist organisations who are able to access grant funding to cover the cost of the installations, particularly in areas of high fuel poverty.
The utility companies who are working on these projects believe that this work is a sound investment and will contribute towards the future of South Western England. People who have already benefitted from new gas connections, particularly those who have received funding for the projects from organisations such as Integrated Energy Services, have seen their fuel bills go down and their quality of life go up in terms of warmer homes, less damp and so less sickness.
According to the utility companies, current gas installation projects are part of a multi million pound replacement programme, which is expected to be carried out over a period of 30 years. The entire programme is expected to cover other areas including Wales.
They will be targeting regions which are still reliant on old metal pipes, repacing them with non-corroding, highly durable plastic pipes which are better suited to carry gas supplies. These plastic pipes have a lifespan of about 80 years and people will not have to worry about any issues with their gas connections for a long period of time.
At the moment, the utility companies are working in to collect details regarding the gas pipeline connections in the South West of United Kingdom. Once all the information is collected, the project will be implemented across the region and the people will be able to experience its benefits over some time. The United Kingdom’s gas connection network is considered as the safest in the world and these new implementations will assist them to enhance supply to those homes in most need of effective, affordable energy supplies.
